The California Academy of Sciences re-opended last year after a three-year, four hundred and eighty million dollar, renovation. Not only was the museum able to achieve the status of being the only museum in the world with a Tropical Reef, Natural History Museum, Planetarium and four-story indoor Rain Forest but they did so while becoming the greenest museum on the planet. In this special BNET report by Sumi Das, the Academy’s Manager of Sustainability Programs, Aaron Pope, tells us about the project, the very real cost savings and some fun facts. We even get to see the museums roof cooled by 1.7 million live plants.
