Its been a year since our show of architect Rob Quigley’s New Central Library design work, and the UT reports that the project is till alive:

A proposal to spend an additional $500,000 to seek bids for a new downtown San Diego library moved forward Wednesday.

The San Diego City Council’s rules committee unanimously approved increasing consultant contracts as the city hopes to nail down costs for the project by next April. The full council still has to approve the expenditure.

The step is key to keeping a $20 million state grant that will help pay for the new library. The state librarian has twice extended the grant’s deadline, but the latest extension is contingent on the city approving a bidding process by Nov. 15.
